Mayor's Wellness 2024 Kick Off Mayors Message

Dear Residents of Bergenfield,

I am thrilled to invite you to join us once again for the Mayor's Wellness Program in 2024! This year, our wellness initiatives promise to be even more exciting and impactful than ever before.

From Martial Arts to Taekwondo, Qigong to Zumba, The Bar Method to Basketball, and Line Dancing, there's something for everyone to enjoy and benefit from. Whether you're looking to improve your physical fitness, relieve stress, or simply have fun while staying active, we have a wide range of activities to suit your interests and goals.

Reflecting on the success of last year's program fills me with immense pride. Together, we danced, sweated, and pushed ourselves to new heights. With 829 participants, 4,974 pounds lost, 36 classes, and 18 sponsors, we made significant strides towards a healthier and happier community.

Now, I urge each and every one of you to take part in this year's program. Let's continue the momentum, support each other on our wellness journeys, and make 2024 our healthiest year yet!

I look forward to seeing you all at the Mayor's Wellness Program events and witnessing the positive impact we can create together.

With warm regards,

Mayor Arvin Amatorio

Mayor's Wellness 2024 Kick Off

Bergenfield Gears Up for Mayor's Wellness Kick Off 2024: Uniting Community for Health and Vitality

Get ready to lace up your sneakers and join the Bergenfield community for a day of health, wellness, and fun at the highly anticipated Mayor's Wellness Kick Off event, set to take place on Sunday, April 14th, at Bergenfield High School.

The Mayor's Wellness Kick Off will commence with a non-competitive Fun Run, inviting individuals of all ages and fitness levels to participate and kickstart their journey towards a healthier lifestyle. The event will feature an array of vendors and sponsors, offering valuable resources and information to support attendees on their wellness journey.

As part of the festivities, New Bridge Medical Center will provide health screenings, promoting proactive healthcare and well-being within the community. This collaborative effort reflects Bergenfield's commitment to fostering a culture of health and vitality for all its residents.

Mayor Arvin Amatorio expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, "We are honored to have been recognized as a Healthy Town to Watch by the New Jersey Health Care Institute for several years now. Every February, as we begin planning for the Mayor's Wellness program, we strive to surpass the achievements of the previous year. This year's event promises to be our best yet, and I encourage all of Bergenfield to join us in dedicating an hour each day to prioritize our health and build a brighter, healthier tomorrow." Mayor Amatorio went on to express his gratitude, “The Mayor’s Wellness Campaign Champions and Volunteers have dedicated their efforts over the past four years to ensure the success of this series of activities. Specifically, the First Lady Ilya Evangelista Amatorio, Eddie Volmer from the Recreation Department, RN Liezl Cruz from the Health Department, Chairwoman Mary Ann Rivera from the Stigma-Free Committee, and Andrew Stewart, our Public Information Officer, for their invaluable contributions in 2024.”

The Mayor's Wellness initiative will extend beyond the Kick Off event, launching a six-week program of diverse and engaging activities to promote physical activity and well-being. From Monday through Friday, participants can enjoy a variety of activities including Yoga, Martial Arts, Tae Kwon Do, Zumba, Line Dancing, Youth Basketball Clinics, and Qigong for Seniors.

The success of the Mayor's Wellness program would not be possible without the generous support of its sponsors. Platinum Sponsors include Sariling Atin Asian Grill, Technology Dynamic Inc, RN Express Staffing Registry LLC, New York Life, and E.G. Enriquez & Co. IN/H&R Block. Gold Sponsors include Sierra Madre Food Mart, New Bergenfield Pharmacy, Dumont Eye Care, HealthForce Training Center USA, Bamboo Grill, Bergenfield Physical Therapy and Pain Management, and American Pinoy Food Mart. Silver Sponsors Tommy Fox's and ComforCare Home Care, along with Activity Sponsors YogaSix, the Bar Method, Elevation Basketball Training, United Martial Arts Tae Kwan Do, St. Mary's Line Dance Leaders, Filipino Kali Academy, Bergenfield Fitness, and Fabienne Louis, have also played integral roles in supporting the Mayor's Wellness initiative.

Bergenfield was honored with the title of Healthy Town to Watch in 2023, reflecting the community's dedication to promoting health and well-being for all its residents. As the Mayor's Wellness Kick Off approaches, the Bergenfield community eagerly anticipates coming together to celebrate health, vitality, and the spirit of unity.
