Mayor's Wellness 2024 Kick Off

Bergenfield Gears Up for Mayor's Wellness Kick Off 2024: Uniting Community for Health and Vitality

Get ready to lace up your sneakers and join the Bergenfield community for a day of health, wellness, and fun at the highly anticipated Mayor's Wellness Kick Off event, set to take place on Sunday, April 14th, at Bergenfield High School.

The Mayor's Wellness Kick Off will commence with a non-competitive Fun Run, inviting individuals of all ages and fitness levels to participate and kickstart their journey towards a healthier lifestyle. The event will feature an array of vendors and sponsors, offering valuable resources and information to support attendees on their wellness journey.

As part of the festivities, New Bridge Medical Center will provide health screenings, promoting proactive healthcare and well-being within the community. This collaborative effort reflects Bergenfield's commitment to fostering a culture of health and vitality for all its residents.

Mayor Arvin Amatorio expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, "We are honored to have been recognized as a Healthy Town to Watch by the New Jersey Health Care Institute for several years now. Every February, as we begin planning for the Mayor's Wellness program, we strive to surpass the achievements of the previous year. This year's event promises to be our best yet, and I encourage all of Bergenfield to join us in dedicating an hour each day to prioritize our health and build a brighter, healthier tomorrow." Mayor Amatorio went on to express his gratitude, “The Mayor’s Wellness Campaign Champions and Volunteers have dedicated their efforts over the past four years to ensure the success of this series of activities. Specifically, the First Lady Ilya Evangelista Amatorio, Eddie Volmer from the Recreation Department, RN Liezl Cruz from the Health Department, Chairwoman Mary Ann Rivera from the Stigma-Free Committee, and Andrew Stewart, our Public Information Officer, for their invaluable contributions in 2024.”

The Mayor's Wellness initiative will extend beyond the Kick Off event, launching a six-week program of diverse and engaging activities to promote physical activity and well-being. From Monday through Friday, participants can enjoy a variety of activities including Yoga, Martial Arts, Tae Kwon Do, Zumba, Line Dancing, Youth Basketball Clinics, and Qigong for Seniors.

The success of the Mayor's Wellness program would not be possible without the generous support of its sponsors.
